Sell Without Touching a Dashboard: Close Deals Through Chat With an AI Agent

TL;DR

You describe an offer to your AI agent — "make a $500 consulting package for Acme with my standard terms" — and it uses gocushy's MCP tools to create the product, price and offer, then hands back a real, live checkout link. You send that link over your own email or DM. The customer pays on a proper, secure, mobile checkout — on your Stripe — and access is granted the instant payment clears. The money never moves "inside the chatbot": the agent runs the selling, Stripe stays the payment rail. No dashboard required.

Plenty of us close deals in the same three places all day: a DM, an email thread, a chat window with an AI in it. The awkward bit has always been the middle — the moment you break out of the conversation, open a dashboard, build a product, copy a price into a payment link, and paste it back. That context-switch is where deals cool off. This is the post where we walk through skipping it entirely: quoting, collecting, and delivering without ever leaving the thread. We'll be honest about what actually happens with the money, because that's the part people get wrong.

The whole flow, in one thread

Here's the loop end to end. Five steps, and only one of them touches a browser — the customer's.

1. Describe the offer, get a live link back

You tell your agent what you're selling in plain English: "Make a $500 consulting package for Acme with my standard terms." The agent calls gocushy's MCP tools — the ones for products, offers, coupons, checkout, delivery and sales — to create the product, set the price, and build the offer. Seconds later a real, live checkout link comes back. Not a draft, not a preview: a working page a customer can pay on right now.

Bespoke, per-customer pricing happens in the same breath. Need a one-off number for this client? The agent either spins up a custom offer at that price or issues a targeted coupon against a standard product. You don't go hunting through a pricing screen — you just say the number, and the right kind of link comes back.

2. Send the link over your own channel

Now you (or the agent, over its own email or DM connection) drop the link where the conversation already is. There's no special "buy in chat" surface the customer has to trust or learn. It's a URL, in the thread you were already in, going to the person you were already talking to.

3. The customer pays on real checkout — on your Stripe

This is the honest part, and it matters. The customer clicks through to gocushy's real, secure, mobile-first checkout page and pays there. Card details never touch the chat window; money does not move "inside the chatbot." It settles directly into your own Stripe account, on Stripe Connect direct charges — gocushy never holds your funds and never becomes the merchant of record.

Say it plainly: the agent runs the selling; the payment rail stays Stripe. That's the merchant-operated model, not buyer-in-chat — your buyer still checks out on a proper PCI-compliant page, exactly as they'd expect. For the difference between the two, see buyer-in-chat vs. merchant-operated.

4. Access is granted the moment payment clears

The instant the payment succeeds, gocushy fires order.paid and delivers on the offer's terms — through its delivery link, an on-screen access note, or your own webhook into whatever system you run. So "grant access on confirmation" is automatic and payment-gated, because the payment is the confirmation. No manual access-granting, no "did it go through?" trust gap, no chasing someone who swears they paid. The thing you sold shows up the second the money does.

5. The agent checks the sale and follows up

Because the same tools read as well as write, you can ask the agent to confirm the sale — pull the order, verify the purchase landed — and then follow up in the same thread. "Did Acme pay?" gets a real answer from your real sales data, not a guess. The loop closes where it started.

Why it's safe to hand this to an agent

The obvious worry is letting a language model near your pricing and your money. The answer isn't "trust the model" — it's that gocushy is built so the agent can't do the damaging thing. Prices live server-side, set when the product is created and read at payment time, so an agent physically cannot ship a mispriced checkout. Checkout and buyer-sensitive links are signed, so they can't be guessed or forged. Delivery is enforced, so a paid order can't slip through without the thing you sold attached. And every single action runs on your own Stripe — the one human step, connecting Stripe and passing its identity check, is done once and never by the agent. The guardrails are as much the product as the tools are. There's more on that in what an MCP checkout actually is.

Who this is for

If you close in DMs and email and quietly hate dashboards, this is built for you — consultants, coaches, agencies, creators — plus support and success teams who want to quote-and-collect in the same thread instead of kicking the customer to a billing portal. A few concrete shapes it takes:

In all three, the pattern is identical: the sale gets made where the conversation already lives, and the payment quietly happens on secure, real checkout backed by your own Stripe.

Frequently asked questions

Does the customer actually pay inside the chatbot?

No — and this is the honest part. The agent does the selling: it creates the offer and hands back a checkout link. But the customer pays on gocushy's real, secure, mobile checkout page, and the money lands directly in your own Stripe account. No card details ever move through the chat window. The agent runs the sale; Stripe stays the payment rail.

How do I set a custom price for one customer?

In the same breath as everything else. You tell the agent the deal — say a $500 package for one client — and it either creates a custom offer at that price or issues a targeted coupon against a standard product. Either way it comes back as its own checkout link, so bespoke, per-customer pricing takes one sentence rather than a trip to a dashboard.

How does the customer get access after they pay?

Automatically, the moment payment clears. gocushy fires order.paid and delivers through the offer's delivery link, an on-screen access note, or your own webhook. The payment is the confirmation, so access is payment-gated and instant. There's no manual access-granting, no trust gap, and no chasing people who say they've paid.

Do I ever have to touch a dashboard?

No. The whole loop — create the offer, send the link, get paid, grant access, check the sale — can happen in chat and over your own email or DMs. There is a normal dashboard if you want one, and a REST API for developers, but selling doesn't require you to open either.

Which AI assistants can do this?

Anything that speaks MCP. Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and Cursor connect via the npm package @gocushy/mcp; ChatGPT and other hosted or custom agents use the remote MCP endpoint. There's also a plain REST API and a normal dashboard, so you can mix and match however you work.
